Sins of Red part 1 and 2 read by me. Plus reflections on the story and my writing process.

Sins of Red is a dark, twisty crime serial I’ll be publishing on Substack over the next few months — before it finds its final form as a novella.

In these fortnightly posts for paid subscribers I will be sharing a few snippets of my writing process, reflections on the plot and characters, as well as two audio episodes of the serial. These will be narrated by me and usually each will be about 4 minutes long.

Introducing - Sins of Red

Author Note

I started Sins of Red way back when I still had my WordPress blog in 2019. The very first episode went out in third person — and honestly, I just wasn’t happy with it. Another writer I sometimes collaborated with mentioned that he thought I could do better, and he was right.

(First, second and third person writing explained.)

After a while, I went back to it, pulled some paragraphs from the original episode one — which became part of the statement — and decided Rosie needed to tell the story herself. Nobody is all good or all bad, and I loved the idea of her letting readers into parts of her life the other characters don’t even know about. Secrets she keeps tucked away — until she’s ready to show them.
