Reflections

In the last episode, we left Rosie having to comfort her seventeen-year-old sister after confessing to some seriously deviant sex with Clive, and then admitting he thwacked her.

To be honest, it’s not surprising that at her tender age, Marie was stunned. I expect their mother would say Rosie was being irresponsible, telling her little sis these gory details. But, as we will find out very soon, Rosie is not all sugar and spice. What took her so long to decide that she needed to get out of her apparently toxic relationship? Why hadn’t she considered leaving Clive after the weird anal-sex event? We know she has said more than once that the two of them were very close, and talked about most things. So, perhaps she’d become too enmeshed in the relationship. Could it be that the blurred boundaries—and the obvious need he had for her—had a strange kind of pull for her?

And I can understand that somewhat. Being involved in a partnership where it feels like it’s the pair of you against the word is a potent mix, where right and wrong can get thrown to the wolves!

So now it’s off to the police station with young Rosie Redmond!
