A few years ago I wrote a series on Medium - published by my other profile, Juniper Less - all about limerence.
I first became fascinated by this concept when Asrai Devin wrote about it, quite a while ago now. She went into depth about her own experience of limerence - the devastating effect it had on her life and family - and also she delved into why and how it happens.
Limerence is an intense infatuation. It can feel almost like an involuntary action, and the person who experiences it may think they have no power to change the way they are feeling.
Unlike real love, it is centred around obsession and a need for the other person to reciprocate so that the person displaying the limerence can have their desires and passions met.
It sounds freaky! And I think it is. Have YOU ever felt this… this limerence? I perhaps have. You see, the person who becomes the focus may give in to the attention, and of course this feeds the other person’s limerence further.
It is indeed an intriguing topic.
My series is fiction and focused on John. A middle-aged man who becomes obsessed with his friend’s daughter, Ginny. A vibrant 21-year-old young woman.
I took the story inside John’s head. His thoughts and feelings. How he tried to reconcile what was going on. And how his family was affected by his obsession. It was an extremely intense tale for sure.
Because this focused on his thoughts and feelings and less on the actual affair that happens, the story contains little sexual action. It worked. Exploring John’s obsessive mind and how this impacted his day-to-day life. It picked up some regular readers.
Recently I updated the plot and also expanded it to include companion tales of the actual erotic elements that would have certainly fed John’s limerence. AND… I recently started publishing it over on Juniper’s Substacks.
Juniper Berries private members Substack is already hosting the companion erotic episodes, and Juniper’s free Substack is publishing the intense, internal thoughts of John - the original (updated) series.
